Paul has played the guitar for the last 26 years and the flute for the last 19. He has played in numerous bands from folk to rock to classical, and is therefore familiar with many musical genres. He first became interested in spiritual matters while studying for a Psychology degree at the University of Sussex. He studied there under the world famous Dr Brian Bates, author of the best selling The Way of Wyrd, who taught courses in humanistic psychology and shamanistic consciousness. An investigation into the physiological and psychological effects of shamanic drum rhythms was the subject for his final year dissertation, earning him a 2.1 BA Honours degree. This stimulated an ongoing interest in all forms of indigenous spiritual practices, which Paul has pursued on an experiential basis.

Paul's online blog is titled Brave New Wood.
