Apple There are many varieties of this popular fruit tree apart from Golden Delicious! The apple tree (Pyrus malus) has a long, complex history; the most famous example being the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, where Eve tempts Adam with a ripe, juicy apple. Well wouldn't you be tempted by such a fruit? The word "paradise" translated from the Persian means "orchard". The common themes of most of the myths and legends associated with apple seem to be love and healing. Certainly my experiences of the apple tree seem to confirm this. The piece has a very mysterious story to it. I was wondering around the hill near my home, when I suddenly noticed a tree with apples on it. Not small little apples, but great big juicy ones! I was very drawn to this tree and was amazed to find it growing in such an unusual place. I sat against the trunk and about half an hour later I heard its music. It was really good, but a little plaintive I thought. I wanted to go back to it to get some more inspiration. I returned and looked in the same place for hours and hours but I couldn't find it. I have been there dozens of times since, taking different routes around that area, but I have never seen it since that first day. It was, as if it had disappeared completely! I have found other apple trees since, but none as special as this one. Having read about the myths, legends, and healing properties of the apple tree, I now realise that in order to heal, one has to acknowledge pain; and that love too, while filled with delight and joy, can be painful and reveals deeper emotions. It would seem then, that apple trees can help us to reveal our deepest feelings, desires and pain. Having then opened up these deep wounds, it has the power to heal them.
